How age is actually counted
Chronological age is the number of completed years, months, and days since birth — you don’t turn a year older until the full year has elapsed. This calculator uses calendar-accurate arithmetic that handles varying month lengths and leap years, matching how age is determined legally and conventionally. It’s the same logic as the Date Difference Calculator, specialized for a birthdate and a reference date.
Age as of any date
A useful, underused feature: the “age as of” reference date. By default it’s today, but set it to any past or future date to answer questions like “how old was this person at a historical event?” or “how old will I be on my retirement date?” The calculation counts completed years to that reference point, so it works forward and backward in time.
